 Here's a fun new way to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas.
If you like golf, and want a chance to win a car, then this is for you.
Birdies for Charity is a fundraising program designed by Golf San Antonio to generate charitable contributions through the Valero Texas Open. Individuals or corporations can make a "Birdie" pledge based on the number of birdies that will be hit during the tournament. A golfer scores a "birdie" when he hits the ball in the hole one stroke under par. Pledges must be at least a penny per birdie, but can be higher.
For instance, here is a breakdown of how many Birdies have been hit in the Valero Texas Open since 2003, and how much a pledge would be based on the donor's Birdie pledge:

What's more, you could win a brand new car. All you need to do is guess how many birdies will be hit during the Valero Texas Open. If you guess correctly, you win a 2009 Buick Enclave. (Any ties will be decided by an annual tiebreaker event).

You can now donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters with your cell phone!
We have launched a "text giving" program which lets you make a small donation using your cell phone and the Internet. If you'd like to make a $5 donation with your cell, just enter your phone number on the left and click the orange "donate now" button.

Text the word KIDS to the number 40579
In the body of the text, just type in the word "KIDS" and $5 will automatically be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas.
A one-time donation of $5 will be added to the donor's mobile phone bill or deducted from a prepaid balance. Standard messaging rates and additional fees may apply.
