Released in 2007, a national study conducted by Public/Private Ventures, a Philadelphia based national research organization, found that children who were matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister showed improvement in 8 academic areas. These include:
- Overall academic performance
- Increased performance in Science
- Increased performance in Math
- Increased performance in Oral Language
- Quality and number of assignments turned in
- Fewer serious school infractions
- Improved scholastic efficacy
- Reduced skipping school
