Big Brothers Big Sisters Board Member Charlie Boyd named Outstanding Mentor of the Year by the Texas Mentoring Summit. Charlie was nominated by Big Brothers Big Sisters for the award for both his outstanding service as a Big Brother to his Little, but also for the leadership he has demonstrated as a Board Member for the organization.
The award was announced by the Texas Mentoring Summit during their annual Mentor Recognition Reception, which was held on Friday, January 12, 2018. The annual event is held in January in honor of National Mentoring Month. Awards are
given to individuals and groups for their contribution to mentoring in Texas.
Charlie was well represented by fellow brothers of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, an organization which places great emphasis on service and has produced more than a few Big Brothers to provide mentoring & guidance.
National Mentoring Month focuses national attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us — individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities and nonprofits — can work together to increase the number of mentors to assure positive outcomes for our young people.
