Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas
Celebrates Black History Month

Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas strives to support a year-round appreciation of Black life, culture and history. Each year, there are key observances that are deserving of special commemoration, including Black History Month.

This month we will celebrate the individuals and organizations who have contributed to the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters by providing one-to-one mentoring relationships to children facing adversity in efforts of changing their lives for the better, forever.

As a part of our commitment to developing assets in young people, we are committed to training volunteers and families around 40 developmental assets including #34 Cultural Competence: Young person has knowledge of and comfort with people of different cultural/racial/ethnic backgrounds.

Learn more about the 40 Developmental Assets our program follows to help children grow up to become healthy, caring and responsible adults.
