The County of Hidalgo has recognized the importance and benefits of the activities of Big Brothers Big Sisters in South Texas in the lives of the children of our community, who will be tomorrow's leaders.
Since 1978, Big Brothers of South Texas has addressed our community's most pressing youth issues, strengthened families, and built stronger communities by facilitating long-lasting, one-to-one mentoring relationships for disadvantaged and at-risk-youth.
Commissioners Court approved a resolution in support of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program and recognized the important role of volunteers and mentors for youth.
"Thank you for recognizing our role in Hidalgo County. It's important for us to be able to stand up here and help educate the community on the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program so that they can reach out, become volunteers, and help touch the lives of our youth" said Bobby Palacios, Board President of Big Brothers Big Sisters Rio Grande Valley.
Thank you to Lansky's for hosting our Big Brothers Big Sisters Night Out Mixer honoring our Big Sister Elizabeth and Little Sister Charlyn (Big and Little of the Year)! Not only was it a great opportunity for the community to learn more about BBBSRGV but to also hear one Big and Little's story.
