Special Events

In May 2006, Communications, a new local wireless service provider, sponsored a “Walk on the Wild Side” safari scavenger hunt at the zoo for matched Bigs and Littles. To compete in the hunt, matches were separated into teams of eight and used Cricket picture phones to capture their findings. Everyone received a custom-designed BBBS/Cricket t-shirt and the winning team won a special candy prize from Cricket. Congratulations to the giraffe team for coming in first! A roaring thank you to Cricket Communications for hosting such a fun and educational event.

Holiday Match Party

To partake in the season of sharing, Bigs and Littles gave each other joyful memories during the annual Holiday Match Party on December 11, 2005 at the Holiday Inn- Market Square.

Bigs and Littles joined in on the festivities by creating holiday crafts such as ornaments, stockings, and picture frames together. During the party, matches were able to sample each other’s favorite desserts and had a chance to meet and get to know other matches, 

This event was made possible by donations from the Junior League of San Antonio, HSBC, Wal-Mart and the Holiday Inn Market Square. 

A Day with Shamu© at SeaWorld

In July 2005, 18 matched Bigs and Littles enjoyed a day with Shamu© and his underwater friends courtesy of SeaWorld San Antonio. Thank you, SeaWorld, for your generosity!
