Kendall & Kerr County News![]() The Kerrville office moves into a new building!Our Kerrville office moved into their new home on 1107 E. Main St. Guests State Senator Troy Frasier, Kerrville Mayor Todd Bock, Kerr County Judge Pat Tinley and Kerrville City Councilmember Chuck Coleman celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 15. BBBS has been operating in Kerrville since 1996 and currently serves 225 children in the community. Tyler Behrens Walk Benefits Big Brothers Big SistersThe 4th Annual Tyler Behrens 5K Run/Walk raised close to $7,000 for BBBS. The annual run/walk takes place the last Saturday of July celebrating Tyler's life. Tyler Behrens was 5 years old when he drowned in Kerrville on July 29, 2003. As a result of Tyler's tragic death his mother, Jodi, initiated a '5K Run/Walk' to honor and celebrate Tyler's life. This year, Big Brothers Big Sisters was the beneficiary for the event. A special thanks to Mayor Todd Bock and to all the Bigs, Littles and volunteers who helped to make sure the event was a success. Also, thanks to Kenneth Euler and the AirEvac team for 'sharing' their helicopter with everyone. We greatly appreciate you!! ![]() ![]() Congressman Smith Visits KerrvilleIn September, Congressman Lamar Smith visited the BBBS Kerrville office and discussed the importance of youth mentoring in the Hill Country.
Schreiner University Honors BBBS InternLindsey Jaeger was awarded Schreiner University's Employee of the Year award for her work as a BBBS work-study intern. Jaeger was selected from students who work on and off-campus. She was recognized at a Schreiner University reception with a plaque and $50 gift certificate from Wal-Mart.
Starbucks Hosts the Koffee n' Kids Art ShowOn Thursday, March 8, the Starbucks in Kerrville held the 1st Annual Koffee n’ Kids Art Show and silent auction to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas. At the event, the community was able to bid on paintings created by Bigs and Littles from both the school and community-based programs.
The auctioned artwork raised $600, and Starbucks has pledged to match this amount. |
