Governance Board of Directors

The Governance Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas provides strategic oversight and guidance to ensure our mission thrives. Members serve two-year terms, bringing diverse expertise and a shared commitment to youth mentoring. The board meets eight times annually, including an annual retreat, to review progress, shape policy, and support the organization’s long-term vision.

Time Commitment

  • Attend 8 board meetings per year, including the annual board planning retreat
  • Join at least one committee and attend committee meetings
  • Participate in other events such as fundraisers and mixers
  • Board terms are 2 years

  • Personal gifts
  • Funds raised through fundraising events
  • Funds raised from companies

Qualifications

Individuals who believe in the power youth mentoring and are willing to advocate for the continued success of Big Brothers Big Sisters are the ideal candidates. People with a wide range of contacts across the community are highly desirable as candidates for board membership.
