The Lighting the Future Summer Reading Challenge is about the wonder, inspiration, and possibility books bring to readers. Just like the marvel you get from catching lightning bugs in a jar on a long summer’s night, a great book can ignite a spark from within, illuminating a child’s imagination. Through our summer reading challenge, we hope to encourage children to unleash their full potential with the knowledge and enjoyment gained by reading for pleasure, leading them towards a path to a brighter future.
The summer reading challenge is designed to engage children in 30 minutes of reading each day for 10 weeks for a total of 2000 minutes. Participants who complete the challenge will be entered into a chance to win awesome prizes!
Join us on Saturday, June 8 for our Lighting the Future Summer Reading Challenge Kickoff Party where we will have free books, food, and celebrity guest reader Xavier Garza, Author of Juan and the Chupacabra.
