mentoring program administered by
Big Brothers Big Sisters, designed to provide
students with:

  • Workplace exposure

The Steps To Workplace Mentoring

  1. Partner workplace says “yes!”
  2. This target school is selected and students are referred to Big Brothers Big Sisters
  3. Mentor recruitment, screening and training occurs at the workplace
  4. A start date is selected by the company and the school
  5. Bigs and Littles are paired together by Big Brothers Big Sisters
  6. Monthly lunchtime meetings facilitated by Big Brothers Big Sisters begin, then continue once a month during the school year
  7. Outcomes are measured

Why It Works

“It’s not just a field trip coming over to Rackspace; it’s an opportunity for these kids to interact with positive role models. This program has raised our attendance levels, grades have gone up, overall school performance in general has gone up helping to create a more positive atmosphere.” – Lenny Leos, Counselor at Ed White Middle School

“My mom didn’t finish high school. She didn’t go to college. Having Annie, my Mentor, has helped guide me in the right direction.” – Little Sister Tricia

“The Workplace Mentoring program is a great way for a business to get directly involved in education. The kids come directly to the business, they learn about the workplace and they get to see the employees in action.” – Graham Weston, Founder of Rackspace Hosting
